Yes that one was a surprise for sure, that was one advantage Adobe had over Microsoft with AIR. We shall see how well it works, it takes time to get it right but now that Macs are Intels and they aren't even trying to get linux working (lots of text, startup, native look etc issues) it actually probably wasn't too hard to get working. I am hoping Mono and Moonlight pick up the *nix side and then you can just use that on win, mac and *nix. Unity3D is driven by a mono core and that proved easy to port for windows, mac, iphone (LLVM), Wii etc. The general movement is very cool though about multi-platform desktop apps and that same stuff running on the web and hopefully mobile.

Thanks for the great summary. The out-of-browser capabilities section leaves me curious ("Silverlight applications can now be installed to and run from the desktop as lightweight web companions"). Pardon the Adobe world-view, but is this analogous to the stand-alone Flash player or is it more integrated like Adobe AIR? It sounds like the former, but I wouldn't be surprised if an AIR analog appeared in this space.
